Turkey Items

More and more members have begun to specialize in one specific catagory and as Michigan Turkey hunting gains in popularity trying to find old turkey hunting memorabilia has become a growing field.  Michigan introduced Turkey Hunting on the west side of the state (Allegan) in 1965 and of course is now open statewide.  The photos above show a very simple 1967 hand sketched law digest, two successful leg seals, a paper license with the hunters information, a postcard informing a hunter that he was Un-successful in the license lottery drawing and a postcard informaing a hunting that he was successful and needed to go buy a license.  It is not known how many licenses were issued in the early years but knowing that the season was only held for one week and in one county it was believed to be very few.  This one happens to be #664.  The state did not start issuing Successful Turkey Patches until 1988.
